Bad implies non-functional, it's never going to be as deep as Chivalry or War of the Roses or Mount & Blade or whatever because those games are about melee combat before everything else whereas Minecraft is a sandbox survival game with a rudimentary combat system built on top. The thing is that Minecraft's combat system isn't bad, it's incredibly basic and lacks depth but you point and click and it hits people so it's functional and fine for the game in most contexts except for hardcore PvP but the game was never built for that anyway.
